International Preparatory College Paderborn – Terms and Conditions
§1 Purpose and Scope of Services
The International Preparatory College Paderborn offers courses designed to prepare participants for the Feststellungsprüfung (university qualification examination for foreign students in Germany).
- T-Course: German, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- W-Course: German, Mathematics, English, Economics
Instruction is the sole service provided. The College cannot guarantee that participants will successfully pass the Feststellungsprüfung.
§2 Duration and Location
- The duration of each T- or W-Course is approximately nine (9) months, divided into two semesters.
- Weekly instruction comprises an average of 32 teaching units, each lasting 45 minutes. Adjustments may be made depending on weekly scheduling needs or instructor availability, without reducing the total number of units.
- Courses take place at the following locations:
- Vogeliusweg 27a, 33100 Paderborn
- Technologiepark 34, 33100 Paderborn
- Im Schlosspark, 33104 Paderborn
§3 Obligations of the College
The International Preparatory College Paderborn will:
- Deliver the course in accordance with its curriculum, or provide equivalent substitute teaching if necessary, ensuring that all knowledge required to meet the course objectives is taught (without guarantee of success).
- Employ only instructors who are appropriately qualified by education and professional experience.
- Provide the facilities and equipment necessary for instruction.
- Supply participants with the learning materials required for the course.
§4 Obligations of Participants
- Participants must attend classes regularly, actively work towards acquiring the required skills and knowledge, complete assigned tasks diligently, and cooperate fully in their own learning process. This includes meeting agreed deadlines and actively participating in any application processes.
- Participants must take part in any scheduled assessments.
- Participants must follow the instructions of instructors and teaching staff.
§5 Tuition Fees
- Tuition fees, including all bank charges, must be paid in euros (€) to the College’s German bank account.
- Upon receiving the registration confirmation, the specified amount must be paid in full by the stated deadline. This amount, minus a non-refundable €500 cancellation fee, will be refunded only if the participant’s visa or residence permit application is refused (§7).
- The remaining balance must be paid within the deadline stated in the admission confirmation.
- Failure to pay tuition fees on time entitles the College to withdraw its offer.
§6 Admission Requirements
Applications must include:
- Proof of German language skills at level B1 or equivalent (Grundstufe II/III)
- A copy of the applicant’s passport
- A certified translation of the applicant’s higher education entrance qualification
Only complete applications with all required documents will be processed. Admission will be confirmed in writing, signed, and sealed by the College.
The College does not guarantee admission to the Feststellungsprüfung. Participants are solely responsible for registering on time for the examination.
Providing false information during the application process may result in immediate expulsion (§8).
§7 Visa Refusal
If a participant cannot attend the course because the relevant authorities have refused to issue a student visa, tuition fees will be refunded minus a €500 cancellation fee. This refund applies only to visa refusal and not to other reasons for withdrawal.
Special services requested by the student beyond the booked course (e.g., accommodation placement, university admission assistance) are non-refundable.
If a participant without a visa chooses to attend online classes and later receives a visa refusal after the course has started, 50% of tuition fees will be refunded within the first four months upon submission of the official rejection letter from the German embassy. No refunds will be issued from the fifth month onwards.
All other cases of contract termination are subject to applicable statutory provisions.
§8 Expulsion for Misconduct
The College reserves the right to terminate the contract and expel any participant who:
- Violates German law
- Commits a serious breach of generally accepted ethical standards
Expulsion may also occur for:
- Attending classes under the influence of drugs
- Promoting discriminatory or extremist ideologies
- Threatening or committing violence against others or property
- Repeatedly disrupting classes
- Violating College regulations
In the event of expulsion, no tuition fees will be refunded.
§9 Data Protection
- The College respects participants’ privacy and processes personal data only as permitted by applicable data protection laws, to the extent necessary to fulfill the contract. Staff are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- No personal data will be shared with third parties without the participant’s consent, except as provided below.
- Data may be shared with the district government or immigration authorities for matters relating to the Feststellungsprüfung or residence permit/visa. This may include internal exam results, attendance data, payment records, and information on misconduct or false statements.
§10 Right of Withdrawal
- Withdrawal Period
You may withdraw from this contract within fourteen (14) days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period begins on the day your payment is received in our account. To exercise this right, you must notify us in writing, signed, and clearly stating your intention to withdraw. Sending the withdrawal notice before the period expires is sufficient. - Consequences of Withdrawal
If you withdraw, all payments received will be refunded within fourteen (14) days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the same payment method unless otherwise agreed. No fees will be charged for the refund.
Governing Law: This contract is governed by German law. It is binding for both parties upon booking and is valid without signature or seal thereafter.
